birdsville or bust
Filmed over 18 months in the remote Outback town known for its iconic pub, it follows a cast of locals as their solitude is invaded twice a year by up to 20,000 partygoers who transform this quiet outpost into a riot of colour.
But it’s also what happens when the tourists are gone, the mercury hits 49.5 Celsius and the army of flies occupy this remote town. With four of the main businesses up for sale – including the historic Birdsville Hotel – this is a tumultuous year for this bucket-list destination.
It was written and directed by Dan Goldberg, produced by Daniel Whelan, shot by Brendan Busby, edited by Sally Moran and executive produced by Adam Kay.
